BACKGROUND: bless wikis tbqh

PERSONALITY: 'Gentle giant' might not be the first thing that comes to mind when looking at Murasakibara, with the unimpressed look constantly worn on his face or the dismissive attitude he has towards most things. However, it's a little more appropriate to describe him as such than one might think.

He's extremely large and aware of it, how he can tower over everyone, and he isn't afraid to use that to his advantage. He complains constantly and is ultimately quite lazy, not liking to do anything that he doesn't want to do. While there are people who might complain about not wanting to do something they ere already planning to do if an outside party tells them to do it, Murasakibara is someone who will actually follow through with not doing it out of childish stubbornness and spite. The exceptions to this being if he's ordered by his coach, of course, (or Akashi), but in general he can be extremely childish in how he reacts to things.

He's stubborn and can whine, gets annoyed quickly, and doesn't think twice about saying mean things to people that get on his nerves, or tell them outright that they are. He openly calls Kagami annoying and makes fun of his eyebrows to his face. But, like a child, he's also easily goaded into doing just about anything if challenged (or motivated by food). At one point Kagami challenges Murasakibara to a game of basketball when they meet, but Murasakibara tells him they're not allowed to play in outside matches in a very "too bad, so sad" way But when Kagami challenges this by claiming he's just scared, Murasakibara quickly tosses that out the window to show him up. He's also the type who will loudly complain and declare that he's definitely not going to go somewhere/do something, no way, it's too much effort! Only to show up claiming he just happened to be around anyhow.

Despite himself and what he might say, he really does love basketball and cares deeply for his friends and teammates. He's able to enter a state called 'the Zone' which is basically like awakens Ultimate Basketball Abilities (god don't ask it's a sports anime idk what to tell you), which is only accessible to those with a deep love of the game. He also refuses to play against Akashi, who was his former captain, even going so far as to not show up to the semi-finals against Akashi's school, which caused his own school to lose. He also travels quite a long way just to celebrate Kuroko's birthday, despite initially complaining that he definitely won't come because it'd be too annoying/a bother. When he loses for the first time against Seirin, he childishly announces that basketball isn't fun anymore and therefore he's quitting-- however he breaks down into tears minutes later, deeply affected by his loss and reminder of everything that made him love the game to begin with. He still gets irritated easily by people who are passionate about the sport though, complaining that it's useless to try if you're not naturally talented, because the hard work doesn't make it worth it. He especially gets irritated when a team is losing, but still tries to be optimistic and hold out hope or anything like that. His childishness shows itself in a cruel streak here, as he likes to crush his opponents in the game and snuff out that light.

But as stated, Murasakibara really is something of a gentle giant. While he's not afraid to use his size to his advantage, he's almost always holding himself back. He knows exactly how destructive and dangerous he could be to friend and foe alike if he let himself go, and consciously will hold himself back and keep his strength in check. When he can go all out against an opponent and not worry about seriously injuring them, he has the most fun in a game, his face lighting up. So despite what he might otherwise portray, he really doesn't want or like to hurt anyone and tries to keep everyone safe, especially from himself.

POWERS/ABILITIES: It's a sports anime idk. Nothing that needs to be nerfed though, it's all just basketball skills.

SAMPLES

Murasakibara wasn't even going to pretend that he understood any of this.

It was bad enough that all his old teammates were here as well, in a place where he couldn't just readily ignore them since they were the only people he knew so far, but all this weirdness with the animal features, touch-based currency (??), and people from different worlds? No thanks. He didn't want to bother.

He reaches up for what was probably the tenth time to pull on the large fox-like ears that had appeared protruding from his head. Like the last nine times, a light pain pinpricked over his scalp to inform him that yes, they were realand no, they weren't coming off any time soon. They press flat against his head as the pain begins to fade and he frowns down at the bag of chips in his hand. With a deliberate purpose he rather savagely brings one to his mouth and bites into it, huffing a little.

It's frustrating. He's not stupid, so the fact he can't quite wrap his head around all of this is irritating, but somehow the chips are comforting. At least now he had an even better excuse to stuff his face than before. (Granted his excuse before was just that he wanted to and who was going to stop him?)

He eats another chip and raises his gaze, rolling his shoulders as he examines the people he towers over. Plenty give him slightly startled looks when they notice someone so big nearby, but he's used to the looks so he just ignores them, his interest instead catching on a woman at the near-by snack stand struggling to stack some boxes.

A nicer person might've rushed to help, but Murasakibara just watches her in a growing amusement as she fumbles with the boxes, dropping them and making motions like she's probably swearing at them. In his mind he can already feel the disapproving gaze of Himuro or Akashi at just standing by, but if she doesn't notice him watching then there's no obligation to help, right? Besides, the wall he was leaning against was comfy enough...

But after a few seconds watching her struggle gets boring and more irritating than anything. So at length he heaves a sigh and pushes away from the wall, lumbering over. THe woman flinches in surprise and shrinks back with a gasp at the sudden monster of a boy how leans down and picks up one box in one large hand like it was nothing.

"Here?" He asks, setting the box down in its designated place when she nods. Silently he moves the boxes where she wants and then straightens up, resting a hand on his hip as he watches her.

She smiles brightly at him, relieved. "Thanks so much! You're a really nice guy, huh?"

Feeling embarrassed, his mouth forms a disgruntled pout and he looks away, huffing. "It's not like that. You were annoying, that's all." The woman doesn't seem too convinced though, if her knowing smile is anything to go by, which only irritates him further. "Besides, if you kept dropping the boxes the chips would be broken."

There, much better excuse. Can't have the chips broken!

But the woman laughs and gives him a couple free chip bags, so he supposes it's not a total waste of his time. Maybe being helpful once in a while could pay off, but... Well, he still wasn't about to go helping little old ladies cross the street on a whim, but it was a fairly good feeling nonetheless. So, armed now with more food, he straightens up and begins making his way to the meeting spot with the others, deciding that maybe he could play some basketball with them today after all.
